PRACTICE DESCRIPTION

Having been with the Firm since its foundation, Mr. Akıcıoğlu is currently serving as the Managing Partner of GSI since the beginning of 2013. In addition to his proven legal skills and experience, he has also proven his managerial skills and demonstrated an enormous effort that successfully transformed the firm, in terms of institutionalizing the organizational flexibility and structural ability to maintain the high service standards and professional conduct and has therefore been very instrumental in increasing the competitive advantage of the firm in the market.

Before he was promoted to Managing Partner position, he was leading one of the corporate and energy departments of GSI and supervising thirteen lawyers as a Partner. During his partnership period, he advised many local and foreign clients and was involved in complicated transactions, represented clients in local and cross border energy projects and acquisitions, advised local and multinational clients in construction of large facilities such as wind farms, hydro power plants, power transmission lines and advised an international media giant for its acquisition and establishment in Turkey. Prior to joining GSI, he was associated with an international consultancy firm operating in Turkey, where he focused on corporate and commercial law, real estate, M&A and energy projects as well as cross border transactions.

Having a professional experience of fifteen years, he is specialized in corporate and commercial law, international commercial arbitration, energy law, privatization, media law, construction and real estate law. In addition to practicing law in domestic issues and advising multinationals on their investments in Turkey, he has also been involved in various cross-border transactions regarding real estate, M&A, hydropower plants and natural gas projects in Kazakhstan, Georgia, Ukraine, Egypt and Northern Iraq and therefore has extensive knowledge and understanding of the nature and structure of cross-border transactions.
